Additional Information:
This extremely rare and beautiful wood was salvaged
before laws were enacted because of environmental concerns regarding the
salmon and other fish in our rivers and lakes. These current laws make it illegal to recover any more of
this precious material so when the material on land is gone, it will be
gone for good. We are making a few pieces of our collection available for
sale.
The mineral deposits that have leached into the wood
for the last 100 years or so from the river bottom environment have caused
the wood to develop a rainbow of hues. Each billet is different from the
others in color and striping.
This material is somewhat heavier than regular redwood
and may be thinned more
like Engelmann spruce. It has a dramatic tap tone much like regular redwood.
