HELLO I AM OFFERING AN ORIGINAL 1959 Fender Telecaster, plays and sounds amazing! Staggerd A & D Poles on lead pick up, steel barrel saddles, Slab Rosewood Board, single ply white pick guard, finish appears to be the very rare "Pale Green, I have only seen this in the Fender Telecaster History book, no other paint has been on this body that I can see, which would make this one of the rarest early custom color teles! Neck pencil date, Body date in bridge cavity, all pots date 1959, CRL switch etc, not sure about the neck pick up, comes with old replacement poodle type case and original 1959 catalog, which is as rare as the guitar, low reserve for this guitar, she comes in at the extreme feather weight of 6 lbs 6 oz, amazing to pick up, low action, frets appear original, I'm selling this guitar along with several others from a private collection, also for sale is a 69' Strat, 68 Olympic white Tele, 67' Olympic white P bass, 71 Special order Maple neck P bass and a 1st year 62' Jaguar w/white tolex case, see these other auctions for details!

Here is some info on the lack of undercoats, I believe this is "Surf Green" There is a nail hole in the control cavity and I'm checking the guitar out again for the other 2 as I respond to the many request, if this is in fact one of the pre-1960 standard custom colors we all know its worth a fortune, anyone else we info or knowledge feel free to send info, The neck cavity has flaked and scratched off to reveal tool marks and pencil dates which are quite clear,  and the dates would have been coverd up with a 50's finish, This one baffles me and I've seen thousands of Fenders, thanks Josh

Fender Primer Undercoats and Sunburst Undercoats (From Vintage guitar info)

Fender was inconsistent in using undercoats on their custom color finishes. During the 1960's, if there is an undercoat it is usually a white primer undercoat. And most often you see this white primer undercoat on metallic finishes such as Lake Placid Blue or Burgundy Mist. The pastel colors like Dakota Red, Daphne Blue, Foam Green and the like don't often use an undercoat coat either. But then again, sometimes they do. In the Fender production shop, it all depends on where the custom color order fell in the production schedule. If Fender had the time to use undercoat, they did. If they didn't have the time or were backordered, they didn't bother with an undercoat (depending on the color). Undercoats in the 1950's were even more inconsistent. Again, sometimes they used them and sometimes they didn't. And the color of undercoat was inconsistent too. It ranged from off-white to Desert Sand (the DuoSonic/MusicMaster color) to even silver. Again, usually the pastel colors like Dakota Red and Black often didn't use any undercoat. And Sunburst is also seen under some 1950's custom colors. Probably just an easy way to use up those bad Sunburst bodies without stripping them.
