| Ludwig 60's Psychedelic Red 3x13" Snare Drum $9.95 NR! | | | Open to International Bidders! This No Reserve auction, is for a vintage 1970's Ludwig "jazz-combo" model snare drum ( Ludwig part no.# 905P ). This drum has a keystone badge with the serial number of # 357370. This drum measures 3" in depth, and is 13" wide. The shell is constructed out of three plies of wood ( mahogany/poplar/mahogany), and has solid maple interior glue-rings, and is professionally re-finished in Ludwig white "resocoat" enamel. The exterior of this drum has been professionally re-wrapped in genuine Ludwig "Psychedelic Red" pearl.
The inside of this drum has no factory date stamp.
This drum is in excellent condition, the only part thats I have installed are the NEW Ludwig snappy snare wires, and a pair of brand new Ludwig Weathermaster drum heads.
The finish on this drum is remarkably well preserved, and it has only slightly faded with age. This psychedelic red finish came off of a damaged 1960's Ludwig floor tom, and was carefully removed, then wrapped around this shell. Jack Lawton of the Lawton Drum Co. did all of the restoration work on this drum. The wood shell is tightly laminated, and doesn't show any signs of seperating. Even the keystone badge has been carefully installed. The pearl that has been used to wrap this shell, is comprised of two pieces.
All of the metal parts are brilliantly chromel plated, and are free from rusting or pitting, but the bottom rim, which is made out of solid brass, is slightly flaked. This drum is factory outfitted with six Ludwig piccolo lugs, twelve tension rods, a "pioneer" throwoff and matching butt plate, and two Ludwig triple-flanged hoops. The Piccollo throwoff is a vintage 1960's unit, but it has brand new internal components.
