Up for auction is an old Gibson archtop guitar. It appears to be an L 48 from the description of specs on a Gibson site. I have found no serial number. The peghead diminishes in thickness from the bottom to the top which denotes a pre mid-fifties date of manufacture. The logo has the "i" dot connected to the "G" which was used after WW II. This is probably an early fifties guitar. There are no breaks but there are plenty of scuffs and dings along with weatherchecking that bespeak using this guitar for its intended purpose. The frets are usable but the lower ones could benefit from a dressing. The pickguard is tortoise. The tuners were changed because the buttons on the originals were shrinking. Really, the old tuners (which are included) aren't all that bad and I think could be reused, but delicately. The original bushings are still on the guitar. The action is good. A non original softshell case is included, as is a cool old leather belt-like strap. There is no reserve, but the auction starts at $199. Paypal and money orders are accepted. Shipping in the continental U.S. should be $40. Thanks for looking.
