Korean made Hamer Echotone guitar in a fantastic looking cherry finish with white/creme binding. Serial number 1700311. Thin neck with medium frets. Pickups are Duncan Designed and pack a nice punch...they sound great overdriven. To my ears, they get a usable clean sound but certainly not in the realm of a decent PAF type pickup. However, great bang the buck!
The hardware is in fine shape and of decent quality. The previous owner put white piping tape around the bridge posts as you can see in the photo. It doesn't really need it since it's solid as a rock. The "B" string bridge saddle rattles a little sometimes but a quick turn of the saddle adjustment screw cures the problem. No biggie, but I wanted to point it out.
Another oddity to point out is the truss rod cover only has one screw as seen in the photo. The cover has holes for two screws but there is no place for the lower screw near the nut to screw into the wood; the truss rod cavity is underneath it. It doesn't affect the guitar in any way and the truss rod is fully adjustable. Perhaps it was a transition model. I've seen several variations of the Echotone through the years.
The guitar is in very good used condition. No dents or gouges; just your standard pick swirls on the body and pickguard. Very clean on the back with some swirling; no belt rash or worming. Headstock has usual swirls from changing strings. This guitar features the side mount jack, chrome hardware, vintage style tuners and a bound rosewood neck. The frets are like new; little wear since I had it setup. I believe the body is maple, but I'm not positive. It also comes with a Gator 335 style hard case which is in like new condition with perhaps the mildest of scuffs.
I had the guitar setup a year ago including slotting the nut since it was a bit high. It plays great, but as always, it's best to get the guitar setup to accommodate your playing style.
This guitar is a great introduction to the 335 style without spending a ton of cash.
