Desirable Reynolds Chambers Model Serial # 56356. If you are looking for a perfect drum & Bugle corps “look” instrument with perfect finish and lacquer move on to another listing. This is a horn for players not Gucci bag toting mall crawlers. Cleveland built. Tubbs refurbished. No lacquer. Good, not new, compression on valves. This horn is 50 years old, yet will satisfy a serious player, A full-time professional would probably want to have the valves Cu/Ni plated for perfect compression. I can play the full range of the horn to High E. It has a huge bottom end sound, and a good high end. You can push this horn without it’s sound breaking up. The Chambers model was added to the Reynolds line in the middle late fifties. It was an addition to the line that previous flagship horn was the Pottag model. They were only made for three years. Not a huge number were built for several reasons: management at Reynolds, the sale of the company to the RMC (Roth/Richards Music Co), and an alleged dispute with Mr. Chambers and the new owners (RMC). (See history on www. contemporacorner.com) This horn had a badly damaged bell tail with a torn, non-salvageable flare, which was replaced with a flare from a Yamaha that has a 567/667 ring set. The end result is a desirable detachable flare Chambers design horn in raw brass. The horn would be a wonderful horn for a serious young or older player. The Yamaha ring set was used because the tear in the flare was high enough up the Reynolds flare to make the use of a larger diameter ring set impossible. This horn has been sitting in my horn studio several years waiting for a fix. The smaller Yamaha ring set saved this grand old horn. The internal wrap has a few dings in the tuning slides, nothing that will affect the horns’ resonant sound. The horn shows signs of previous dent raising and has visible surface scratches. I do not buff horns, which removes metal and can change a horn’s playing characteristics. The horn has an adjustable pinky hook. The horn will be shipped in a Yamaha fixed bell case in good condition. This allows lower reserve and gives the new owner a choice of detachable cases on the market. Email questions.
