The D-18V is the "creme de la creme." All the looks and the classic tone that has elevated the CF Martin name over the decades show through in this fine guitar. The tone is deep, rich and beautifully balanced. It's that sweet warm full bodied BIG FAT TONE of Elvis in the early years. If you are a connoisseur of guitars and you demand the very best, you owe it to yourself to play the D-18V.

The D-18V features solid genuine mahogany construction in the back, sides, and neck, and a solid Sitka spruce top. The soft V profile is great for getting good leverage around the upper neck and it gradually rounds out a bit towards the 12th to 14th frets. The fingerboard and bridge are both made from solid ebony. More timeless appointments include old style dot inlays, bone nut and saddle, nickel Gotoh tuners with butterbean knobs, and intricate binding designs. The entire instrument is finished in a special varnish for an "aged" look, and sports the old style CF Martin logo on the headstock.

The big difference between a standard D-18 and the D-18V is that Martin's famous "X-bracing" has been shifted 0.5 inch closer to the sound hole. The result is that a larger area of the top vibrates in response to string movements. A larger vibrating area means that the D-18V has the potential to play louder and with more bass.
