For auction is this Gibson SG Tube Guitar amplifier system, which includes the CMI Electronics 2-channel tube amplifier, spring reverb unit, cabinet with wheels, and two vintage Jensen 12" C12NA speakers. The model number and serial number are not present on the CMI amp, but based on similar models it appears to be a model SG 115.
SG Guitar Amplifier Systems are smooth, virtually distortion-free 100W, two-channel units. High- and low-gain guitar inputs are provided on both channels, as well as wide-range, cut and boost bass, treble and volume controls. Channel 1 provides clear clean amplification without internal sound modification. Channel 2 can be used for pure amplification, but also has dynamic voicing features
built in which can provide virtually infinite sound modification.
Variable wave-form modification is provided by a clipping circuit in the preamplifier which can produce the effects of audio overdrive at any output volume level desired. A four-position notch shift selector produces four distinct combinations of range accent and attenuation from smooth, cool ballad sound to hard, bassy rock. Phase shifting with unique solid state circuitry produces an accentuated effect of rotating speakers at three different speeds. Reverberation effects are available over a full range, with or without other sound modification. Foot pedals switch panel-set wave form modification in or out, reverb in or out, and phase shift presence and speeds. System operation is not dependent on foot-switch operation, and may be used with or without foot switches. Guitar input channels 1 and 2 may be used individually, or together with the output a blend of both instruments, adjusted by the individual channel controls and the master volume. All SG Guitar amplifier systems have the same 100-watt amplifier chassis, with varying configurations of one, two, three or four high-performance speakers.
This amp features two vintage Jensen 12" speakers, model C12NA. The amp was powered up and tested with a Les Paul Custom guitar. What a great, raw tube sound. Powerful and rich tone with a hint of overdrive. Phase shifter effects are cool; they will add a nice nuance to your playing. Overall this is a sweet sounding system with great tone that is perfect for novice to professional guitarists alike.
