Hi there,
My apologies; I started the listing price too high; I did not realize that these metronomes had dropped so drastically in value. Vintage Seth Thomas metronome from the 1960s. This was my aunt's, and she took immaculate care of all her material things. I do not know what wood this is; from my scanty knowledge of woods, it does not appear to be mahoghany. I would guess cherry or maple? If anyone has a knowledge of woods, I would love to hear from you and your opinion of the wood used, as I am totally clueless.
The inside paper label says: "Metronome De Maelzel." There is an umlaut (sp) above the "e," but I can't remember my German, which was de minimus at best. At any rate, the label continues: "This instrument provides the rate of speed . . ." blah blah. Then in red are the instructions for winding: "Turn key 9 full turns. This movement has a clutch to prevent overwinding . . ." blah blah. More wording; then "Thomaston, Connecticutt, U.S.A." and a serial no: E899-575 155-2; this is as best as I can make out, and my eyesight is failing. The metronome ticker thing works fine. Please email w/ any questions as I am not an expert, and thank you for looking, especially after the stock market crash. Would be happy to send additonal photos upon request. From a smoke-free and climate-controlled environment while it was at my aunt's house. However, I have critters and cannot promise that my items would be completely free of critter hair. They are free from smoke. Thanks again for looking!
