For $30 extra, I
can upgrade the ribbon from 2.5 micron aluminum to 1.8 micron. This
drastically improves the sound, because the lower mass of the ribbon
allows it to move faster, resulting in better transient response and
clearer sound. The quality after this modification puts it in the same
class as ribbon mics costing hundreds of dollars more. If you are
looking for truly superb sound ask for this mod.
