This is a rack panel containing eight (8) United Transformer Corporation UTC A-21 Transformers. These are high quality audio matching transformer that may be of use where you need to match either 500 ohms to 500 ohms, 200 ohms, or 50 ohms. Would work fine for a 600-to-600 ohm, or any low impedance 1:1 match as well. Great for a project where you need high quality ‘line level’ matching or isolation transformers with these specs. Would also work great with mic level, especially in cases where you may need to convert from very low impedance (50-ohm) to step up to 500. This transformer is the version with the red printing detailing the transformer taps on the side, and the stamped/recessed ‘UTC’ logo on the top. Mfg. Codes for the eight transformers are as follows:
#1 HH71 42
#2 “
#3 “
#4 “
#5 A65 28
#6 HH69 50
#7 HH71 40
#8 “
Primary Impedance:
500-ohms, with tap to allow 50 ohm or 200 ohm.
(500-ohms between pins 1 & 3;
200 ohm between pin 1 & 2;
50 ohm between pin 2 & 3)
Secondary Impedance:
500-ohms, with tap to allow 50 ohm or 200 ohm.
(500-ohms between pins 4 & 6;
200 ohm between pin 4 & 5;
50 ohm between pin 5 & 6)
Maximum Level +15dbm
Frequency Response: 30~ - 30KC
500 V Hipot
Tested good doing an ohmmeter winding test with and VOM. Also tested OK with line level audio in and out.
The transformers measure approximately 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 2-1/4 total length. Each transformer has four 4-40 threaded mounting holes at each end.
Total rack panel 3-1/2” x 19” long, and has eight 8-terminal barrier strips. Only 5 of the 8 terminals are utilized on each barrier strip for the transformers, leaving you room to ‘add’ wiring for the 50 or 200 ohm taps, if desired.
Cosmetically it is nice with some light surface rusting on the barrier strip screw heads.
A reserve in placed on this auction as there is a quantity of nice iron in this one! If it doesn’t meet the reserve I’m considering using it to build a neat old ‘retro’ rotary pot mixing board using some vintage daven step pots and ‘rat trap’ switches. Having eight of these can give you a lot of audio project options!
