Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster FIRST YEAR 2005 SRV

With no doubt, the EJ signature model is the best Stratocaster made these days.

From the super-thin nitro finish and the very light alder body, to the quarter-sawn maple neck. Almost in every detail, the EJ is identical to the Pre-CBS Stratocasters. However, Fender designed it according to Eric’s few personal preferences such as; no string tree and 12” radius fret board etc.

As most of you knows, the instruments from the first year of its production are the most valuable. In order to establish new model on the competitive guitar market, the manufacturer would go an extra mile quality wise. Therefore the instrument from the first year is always better than any other after that! In addition, not only this is a first year EJ Stratocaster, but has a low serial number as well! 

So here she is, the first year 2005 Eric Johnson Signature Stratocaster with a few upgrades.

While the EJ pickups are just good the Texas Special are the greatest Fender pickups ever made! The factory mass-made EJ pickups are designed for the EJ model only. Custom Shop Texas Special can be found on Stevie Ray Vaughan’s, Mark Knopfler’s, Bonnie Raitt’s, Richie Sambora’s etc. models. I would consider this upgrade as invaluable. Another upgrade is the genuine Fender three-layer tortoiseshell pickguard, which replaces the cheap looking single-ply plastic one that comes from the factory. However, I will include it as a bonus, for those of you who like it better.

Keep in mind that both upgrades are done professionally by using Genuine Fender Custom Shop USA parts. All of the soldering has been done by a certified professional. Cloth isolated conductors from the Custom Shop are used to get all of the internal connections done.

Guitar's condition

There are two hard to see dings on the body as well as some polish swirils. These imperfections can be detected by rotating the instrument against a light source.This keeps me from grading the overall guitar’s condition 10 in scale of 10. I’ve purchased her to be a collector’s piece rather than being played. Other than that my EJ Stratocaster can be considered brand new, the original EJ case looks untouched and the case candy pack is untouched.

In conclusion, this First Year 2005 EJ is much cleaner than most of the 2008 EJ Stratocasters hanging on the retailer store’s walls.
