1961 Fender Jazzmaster. I am the third owner. It plays and sounds fantastic.
The original owner bought it new, then a couple of years ago, sold it to a friend of mine, and I bought it last spring. When I got it, it was Sunburst, but owner #1 had re-sprayed the black around the edges, not knowing the value of being a relic. He did a very poor job.
Owner #2 replaced the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio.
I decided to make it playable again and figured I may as well make it look nice too.
I sent the body to Marty Bell, a certified Fender refinisher and had it painted Shell Pink, which is a genuine Fender Custom Color and was available and used in 1961. I also had him mask the pencil markings in the body so the age could be verified. Both the neck and body are marked with the month and year (both ‘61).

While that was happening, I had the neck re-fretted, using the original size frets (the old frets are included).

When it was reassembled, I had the original pickup put back in, and since the original pickguard was a little warped, I had them use a new reissue pickguard after enlarging the bridge post holes (the original pickguard and shielding plate are included, and are in really good shape considering the age – no cracks).
All electronics and hardware are original. I’m not going to tear the guitar apart and take pictures, but if you want to when you buy it, I’ll give you a week to prove me wrong. If you find I’ve misrepresented the guitar, I’ll refund your money upon the safe return of the guitar.
Also included:
Brand new Fender Case
Original Fender Case (banged up, but pretty good shape for its age)
Original Tremolo Bar
Original leather strap (very much used)
Black coiled cable
Old Fender Guitar Polish
Some documents I got with it (some may be original, but I doubt it)
I'm selling the guitar locally, so if the auction ends early, that's why. There is no "buy it now" offered, and I will not entertain any offers to end the auction and sell it to you directly. If you want it, simply bid on it. If the shipping seems unreasonable, its because it includes an extra case and insurance.
