EC+ MESA Boogie
LONE STAR Classic Head Amplifier
Excellent-plus to near-mint condition Mesa/Boogie 50/100
watt Class AB amplifier, in original Bronco Blue (no longer available except as
an upcharge) and pewter grill (no longer available from Mesa). Two independent,
footswitchable channels, each with separate, selectable solo-boost
options. Superior sounding spring
reverb with separate level and bright/warm controls for each channel.
An extraordinary palette of sonic possibility
is available with this amp, and you owe it to yourself to consult the secondary
literature on the Lone Star at Mesa’s website
(http://www.mesaboogie.com/Reviews/index.html) and at Harmony Central
(http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar+Amp/brand/Mesa%2FBoogie).
This is a versatile, intelligently
engineered guitar amplifier, offering a variety of players and playing styles a
range of harmonically rich and overtone-laden sounds, from clean to high gain
distortion, with remarkable touch-sensitivity and dynamic responsiveness. This amplifier has been widely reviewed in
the trade magazines, and is equally at home with a Fender Strat and Hamer
Monaco III, as it is with a Gibson 335/336/446, Les Paul, or P90 ES125. Only used in a smoke-free home; never
gigged, pushed hard, or played out.
Overall, the Lone Star Classic has consistently received
well-deserved, superior ratings from all sectors of the music scene, and has
done so since its introduction some years ago. This is an amp that requires, and rewards, your time and
imagination, to discover and to open up musical horizons that simply are not
available with other Class AB amps.
Read the ToneQuest Report interview with Randall Smith, and the review
of the Lone Star Classic combo in the same issue (both are available on the MESA website, address noted above), to see just how serious Mesa
is about its product development.
Buying a Lone Star Classic really is purchasing an instrument to
compliment, extend, and inspire new avenues for your musical exploration and
expression. You’ll spend many
pleasurable hours with this amp, whether in practice or performance.

Payment Instructions
Please note: Immediate payment required. PayPal is accepted, but
the seller and buyer split fees (about 1.5% for buyer). Wire transfer and
e-check accepted. If not paying by PayPal, contact me immediately upon
auction’s end to arrange wire transfer to my bank account. Other forms of
payment must be approved before the auction’s end or your bid will be
canceled. Amp ships immediately upon successful transfer of funds.
No low and recent negative feedback bidders, please. No overseas sale or
shipment. Will ship to Canada.
Shipping/Insurance
UPS shipping and insurance will be at your actual cost and added to the final
auction price, in addition to a modest fee (about $10) for my materials cost
and packaging time. Amp ships to confirmed address. The amp is heavy once packed, about 50 lbs., so
figure anywhere from $45-70 for a very carefully packed box shipped in the
lower 48; other locations will cost more. I’m not out to make money on
shipping; you will cover your actual shipping expenses, plus the materials fee;
any amount you pay extra on shipping will be promptly refunded. As with any amplifier sale, this item is
sold in as-is condition. No returns or refunds.
Closing Remarks
It's a difficult decision to sell this classy and versatile amp. Though
I've enjoyed it immensely, I enjoy learning about and playing other used and
vintage amplifiers too, which is why I'm selling this. I
encourage you to take advantage of this amp’s excellent condition, its known
history of care and use, and your seller’s reputation on eBay, to acquire this
superb, hand-built tube amplifier from Mesa Boogie. And purchasing only
the head version is an easy way to try out a Lone Star, if you haven’t, with
your own speaker preferences. Please
email me with any questions you have.
