VINTAGE 1962
GUILD CA-100 CAPRI
SOLID SPRUCE TOP
ARCHTOP ACOUSTIC
JAZZ GUITAR
If you're a fan of Guild Guitars, then I don't need to say anything more about this guitar as the photos will give you all the information you will need. If you're not, then read on...
This guitar was hand built by Guild Guitar Company in 1962 in Hoboken, New Jersey, USA. This was made during some of their best years of guitar building. Everything about this guitar is original as far as I can tell, but if someone sees something I don't, please let me know and I will list it.
This is the only acoustic model Guild made with the sharp "Florentine" style cutaway similar to the Gibson ES-175 except that this one has a solid spruce top which allows it to be played as an acoustic guitar. These guitars were frequently used with a "floating" style pickup. I have the one I used with this guitar (a DeArmond) for sale in a seperate auction. I have this guitar strung with DR Zebra strings, so it sounds good played either way.
3-piece Mahogany/Maple/Mahogany neck, Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, laminated Maple back and sides, Grover "StaTite" tuners. 20 frets, 24-3/4" scale. Body is 16-3/8"W x 20-1/4"L x 3-1/8"D (at center). The neck is fast and straight, but there is some minor buzzing on the high E string probably due to my setting the action too low. I'm sure it can be easily corrected, but I wanted you to know in advance.
The scratches, or the area missing some finish as shown in one photo, are on the underside of the lower bout so they are not visible unless you turn the guitar upside down, or play left handed. There are some minor nicks and scratches spread around the rest of the guitar as would be expected of a 46 year old guitar, but nothing drastic. Includes original Guild hardshell case.
Please review the photos carefully and email me if you have any questions.
