Classic 1960 Martin 0-18
Acoustic Guitar
~ This is a True Collectors Item ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One Owner - My Family.
My dad bought the guitar new in 1960. He never played much, and eventually he stopped playing it altogether. Finally, he gave it to me (after I bugged him endlessly.) That was many years ago. He has since passed away. I used to play it a lot, but am now selling it because, for the past few years, I've rarely used it.
This guitar is in very good shape, and sounds incredible. If you are familiar with the signature Martin tone, imagine it resonating from the cavity of a Martin guitar whose wood has been seasoning for almost five decades!
The 0-18 is one of Martin's smaller body guitars, but still has great warmth, a deep tone, and very long sustain. Everything on this instrument is original, except the bridge (and the strings.) The original bridge cracked, so I had it replaced, professionally.
Many years ago, I played this guitar quite a lot, so it bears the standard marks of an instrument that has been used and enjoyed - pick marks some surface scratches, etc. However, it has been well taken care of and has spent virually its whole life inside a climate controlled house.
There is a crack in the lower right side of the body (which I never really noticed until an astute guitarist pointed it out.)
I am not an expert regarding types of wood, construction, necks, etc, so I have done my best to include high-quality, detailed photos that capture the important stuff. If you need a new photo, or details about something else, let me know. Thanks.
Included in this auction:
1 - 1960 Martin 0-18 Acoustic Guitar (the one in the photos)
1 - Original Case with three snap-locks. Case is in very good, usable shape and has the standard, thin outer shell with soft interior lining - although not "super-fuzzy" like some.
-------------------------------------------
Condition: Very Good
Most notable flaw: 4" - 5" crack near lower right front of body (see photo) I know nothing about the nature of this crack or what it would take to repair it. Initially it was hard to see, so for the photographs, I placed the lights so as to accentuate the shadows, allowing it to show up more.
Other flaws: pick marks - minor dings - minor neck and body scratches. Most you would expect on a guitar of this vintage.
SHIPPING NOTES
The guitar will be carefully packed in a regulation guitar box, and shipped via high-qualilty carrier. I will only use a priority service that provides trackable and insurable service, such as UPS or FedEx. The two and three day services are the most cost effective.
~ Standard insurance will be included in shipping price
PLEASE NOTE: I will only ship this "signature guarenteed." It must be signed for at the time of delivery. Without a signature, this shipment will NOT be left on a door step, porch, in a garage or any other place. If you are not there to sign for it, it will not be delivered. If this makes it inconvenient for you to get it at your house, and you can't go to the depot to pick it up, please make arrangements to have it delivered to another suitable location. Once the package gets to you, and it is signed for, it is not my responsibility to keep the package safe. If the package arrives damaged, although I would love to help you resolve the problem, you will be responsible for filing a claim with the carrier. So please inspect the package VERY thoroughly when it is delivered. When it leaves me, the box will be in great shape. Any dent, ding, hole, scrape, fold, tear, or other compromise to the package should be noted when you sign for it. If you suspect a problem, have the delivery man wait while you open the box. This is really important if you wish to avoid a potential hassle later on.
