**Very Nice** Vintage Fender Vibra Champ Guitar Amp
Fully Functioning/Classic Sound w/Jensen Blue Dot Speaker
*****MUCH LOWER PRICE*****LOWER SHIPPING ALSO*****
This is a really nice vintage Fender Champ Silver Face amp. Its in very good shape, especially considering its age. There are some blemishes in the silver face plate, in a couple spots, but overall it is 'looking good.' The tolex is in great shape. The grille is near perfect. The tolex is in really good shape. The corners are a bit worn, but just barely. There is on small tear, about 1/4" wide, but it could easily be glued back into place as the piece in question is just pulled back, you can see it in one of the pics. The silver strips on top have a light bit of rust, again see pic.
I want to add some info on the amp itself. It has original parts with the exception of the tubes. It has 1 EH power tube, and 1 Sovtek, the preamp tubes are sovtek. The speaker has been replaced with a Jensen Blue Dot, but I have the original speaker which is in excellent shape. If someone would like the original to be put back in place, I will gladly oblidge. (See pics of original speaker) It is one 'killer' little amp! If it sells for over $365.00 I will include both the 'Blue Dot' and the 'Original Speaker in the auction.'
The Sound
I have been a recording engineer since 1991 and I have heard a slew of guitar amps. (I will be listing an almost brand new Matchless, hopefully tomorrow) This small combo sounds really amazing. I have always loved small combos for recording, they get used a lot more on records than a lot of people realize. The Vibrato in this one functions perfectly, if you are not familiar with Fender vibrato, you have been missing something. It of course has the two controls, speed and intensity.
One of the other things I really like to do when tracking distorted e. guitar, is simply to crank up the amp itself and use the "amp" distortion instead of sticking a distrtion pedal in front of it. Amp distortion makes for great distorted guitar tracks. Its hard to the get the guitar players to go along with it, sometimes, but when I can we usually end up with some great tracks. Robert C. the lead singer and guitar player for 'Joneszetta' used our Vox AC15 one time to lay down some tracks on a demo they were doing, in their very early days as a band. We both agreed a while back that it was some of the better sounding distorted guitar tracks we have heard. Just an ovedriven amp, simple, but really effective. Not to say that pedals have no place of course, each song calls for different tones and colors and its usually a blend of different things that make for a great sounding record.
I said all that to say this, I cranked up the little vibra champ today to refresh my memory and it sounded fabulous both in the 'clean' mode and also being pushed until it started breaking up, ie: 'overdriven' And of course, nothing sounds like a Fender, when it used for clean guitar sounds. Thats about it, sorry, but I get hyped when I start talking about tracking e. guitars, as it is one of my favorite things to record. Small combos make it easy too, in the studio, because you usually don't have to have earsplitting db's blowing your head off, to get a good tone.
If anyone is interested, I have a list of the compliment of tubes that are in this particular amp and may try and get that up tomorrow.
Be sure and ck out the pics and ck back tomorrow or the next day for the listing on the Matchless (in original box) It is truly the best sounding guitar amp I have ever heard in all my years as an engineer. We also have a Soldano G.T.O. hand built Overdrive Pedal (all tube).
SHIPPING
We ship to the lower 48 states, and to Canada and some other countries, but on a heavy little amp like this one, it is liable to cost quite a bit to have it shipped out of the country, If you are willing to pay, you can email me and I will try and get you an estimate. It will only cost you what it cost me, ie: no handling fees or overpriced shipping.
