YA-MAMA! PM-2K Yamaha discrete microphone preamp in excellent/new condition. This is a custom API 500 VPR format module, made from original vintage Yamaha PM-2000 mixing console mic preamps. The Yamaha PM-2000 was a late 1970's design made similar to API, except Yamaha did not use output transformers in the input channels like API did, so I've added the wonderful Cinemag(original Jensen transformer makers) output transformer to complete it. I wanted to rack some for my own studio use, so I made a few more and they are for sale here. Uses the Tamura GA80980 input transformer, Yamaha NE80200 discrete opamp and Cinemag CMOQ-2S (steel) output transformer. Switches and button caps are N.O.S.(new old stock) original API given to me by Paul Wolff. All other components are new, high grade, long life(3000+ hours) 105 degree capacitors, 1% resistors and gold plated connectors. The sound is better than an API 312(in my opinion). I have compared against an original Brent Averill API 312 and found the PM-2K to be a little cleaner sounding, similar to the API 512. There is a green LED light to indicate when you have 48volts phantom power selected. Also has -20db pad and phase reversal. I also had the front panel next to the gain knob punched for (future) optional signal present LED and overload LED. Check out my other items!
