Ok. So here we go. I was approached by a private collector to list a few of his vintage pieces for him. What an honor. I have never played a guitar like this, nor like the other few I'll be listing as well. This one: a 1952 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop Electric Guitar. This is the first year Gibson made the Les Paul. This is of the second run of that year, as it has the bound neck. But is early enough to where it has no serial. So, it's a mid 52'er I'm told. I'll give my best description. Also, notice the link at the bottom of the description. Very important. It's my flickr account and has over 50 pictures of this beauty in detail for the serious eye! Should minimize questions and all that. The buyer will pay the owner, not me. And will be put in contact with him once the sale has been decided. And payment must be available at auction's end.

The body has some of the lacquer cracking as you'd expect. And a few green lines in the lacquer. The body really over all is in nice shape. The back side at the bottom has some marks from it setting on that area over the years, it seems. The guitar seems mostly original. Definitely all the major parts are. The only spots I questioned were the input plate, and the backplate screws. And they may be original. The electronics are, and we have the original hardshell intact and looking rather well too. Check the link for extensive case photos. It plays amazing. The neck and frets have some wear, particularly at the first few frets, but it's not buzzing out, and it has not been refretted! The board has a little indentation on the high strings at the first three frets, from some good ole chording. The neck feels great to play. What a little gem. The back of the neck and body have some marking. Nothing too bad. Just good honest use. A little discoloration on the back of the neck. The headstock has a few minor marks. Nothing major. The truss rod works. It's set to play. The action is nice. Hands down, it's a great collector's piece, that will only accumulate in time if maintained and preserved as this has been over the years.
