Up for sale is a 1963 Fender Bassman in blonde finish. The head is 1963 and the cabinet is 1964 fitted with 1 celestion vintage 30 and a protone vintage 30 copy wired parallel with solid core 12 AWG wire for a fuller tone (Setzer trick). This amp is a model 6G6B which is the solid state rectifier model and most desireable. The preamp tubes are new groove tubes 12AX7 which is a replacement for 7025 and the power valves are old RCA 5881's. The amp sounds beautilly as it was serviced about a year ago and all leaky capacitors were replaced with the highest quality sprauge atom capacitors. The power cord was also replaced with a longer 3 prong cord. All transformers date 1962-1963 and are period correct to be the originals. The only issues with the amp are purely cosmetic. The biggest flaw is a tear in the cabinet tolex measuring about 2 inches tall and 6 inches wide. I was very angry at my 3 month old puppy for that one. The other flaw pictured lookes like a big cigarette burn on the back of the cabinet but really noticable being the amp faces you from the front. There is also some stain on the lower part of the head but the amp is 45 years old. Also all the screws are not in the back of the cabinet holding the cover on. There are 10 screws holding the cover securly on as opposed to the ridicously 28 screws fender used. The cabinet cover doesn't vibrate at all and anyone who knows anything about fender piggyback amps knows about the insane number of screws holding it on. This amp is great for rockabilly, country, and , well, just a great amp I hate to part with but things get tight. Please e-mail me with any questions and USA bidders only. As with all my auctions free insurance, NO RESERVE, and .01 cent Starting bid. Thanks much!
